The discussion forum "Let's talk about science takes" place on a Monday every quarter.
The format "Reden wir über Wissenschaft - im Kaiserfeld" is designed as an open discussion platform and promotes dialog between society and science. Interested people are offered the opportunity to ask scientists questions on a specific topic in a cozy coffee house atmosphere.

On 13.05.2024 at 6.30 pm, another event on the topic of "Intersections of artificial intelligence, medicine and neuroscience" took place at Café Kaiserfeld (Kaiserfeldgasse 19) as part of Let's talk about science. BioTechMed-Graz Co-Director and moderator Prof. Robert Krause, Head of the Clinical Department of Infectiology at the Medical University of Graz, welcomed Prof. Thomas Pock from the Institute of Computer Vision and Visualisation and Prof. Robert Legenstein from the Institute of Information Processing Fundamentals, both from Graz University of Technology. The two speakers presented their main areas of research in connection with artificial intelligence - particularly with regard to imaging in the fields of medicine and neuroscience. They gave an insight into the current possibilities of artificial intelligence, but also pointed out the risks and dangers of private use and the potential of global market leaders. | |
On 22.01.2024 at 6.30 pm, a new event on the topic of "Antiobiotics crisis" took place at Café Kaiserfeld (Kaiserfeldgasse 19) as part of Let's talk about science. The speakers were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ines Zollner-Schwetz, 1st Deputy Head of the Clinical Department of Infectiology at the Department of Internal Medicine at the Medical University of Graz, Dr. Karl Bauer, specialist veterinarian for animal breeding and former Managing Director of the Styrian Animal Health Service Association and Univ. Prof. Dr. Johannes Khinast, Institute for Process and Particle Technology at the Graz University of Technology, were welcomed by moderator Prof. Dr. Robert Krause, Head of the Clinical Department of Infectiology at the Medical University of Graz and BioTechMed-Graz Co-Director. They gave an insight into the current antibiotics crisis, their use in humans and in agriculture as well as the production and manufacture of antibiotics and their current and future availability. The short presentations were followed by an interested and lively discussion on the sustainable use of antibiotics and alternative solutions in the event of the unavailability of medicines. |
